How to use your Feminine Pod

Always follow the instructions in your box.

Before your first use

Check that both small air holes near the rim are open. Boil the cup in an open pot of water for 5 minutes. Use plenty of water and never leave the pot unattended.

Step by step

  1. Wash your hands.

  2. Fold it. Pick the fold that works for you:

    Box drawing: fold
    • Punch-down fold: an open cup, then the same cup with one side of the rim pushed down inside, making a pointed tip

Punch-down (easiest): press one side of the rim down into the base.

    • C-fold: an open cup, then the same cup pressed flat and folded in half so the rim makes a C, seen from the top

C-fold: press the cup flat, then fold it in half into a C shape.

    • Seven fold: an open cup, then the same cup pressed flat with one top corner folded down so the rim makes a 7

Seven fold: press the cup flat, then fold one top corner down diagonally so it looks like a 7.

  3. Hold it. Keep the fold tight, with the rim facing up and the stem down.

  4. Insert it. Sit, squat or put one foot on the toilet. Relax, and gently insert it angled towards your back.

  5. Seal and turn. Grip the base (not the stem) and turn the cup a full circle so it opens fully and seals.

  6. Take it out. Find the stem and gently pull until you can grip the base. Pinch the base to release the seal, then ease it down and out. Empty it, rinse, and put it back in.

  7. Store it. After your period, keep it clean and dry in the bag provided.

How long can I wear it?

Up to 12 hours, depending on your flow. Empty it more often on heavy days. The markings go up to 15 ml.

Cleaning your cup

  • Each time you empty it: rinse with warm water and a mild, unscented, oil-free intimate wash. Keep the air holes clean.
  • Before and after each period: boil it for 5 minutes.

Stay safe

  • Wash your hands before handling the cup.
  • Don't wear it for longer than 12 hours.
  • If you get a high temperature, a rash, flu-like symptoms or feel very unwell while using it, remove the cup and get medical help straight away. Tell them you were using a menstrual cup.
